Lightbulb getinlost's Timeline thread (sorta)

Instead of posting all of the little tiny shtuff I am doing to my car I figure I'll just start a build thread so I won't up the thread count much more.

The latest thing is a hand stitched Italian leather wrapped shift ****. Sewn by me from leather stripped from an old bicycle saddle.

I have a habit of jumping into a project and forgetting to take pics. I cannot promise to do better, but I'll try.

One of the first thing was new tires, there was a serious bulge on one.

Royal Purple oil change and RP filter. ( I had to edumacate the parts guy on the filter)

I have done the valve cover gasket, and the rear brake pads, also a ABS speed sensor. Oh and cleaning, lots and lots of cleaning and polishing.

Debadged the front and rear. Except the rings.

Air box mod how I want. A K&N drop in filter came with the car.

Reversed DV (that my get switched back soon) the argument that the pressure hits the diaphragm straighter made sense to me.

Bought an e-bay VAG-COM cable and did the window and lock mods. (it was worth the money just for that) also was able to troubleshoot the ABS and Brake light. Just in time for emissions inspection.

I had two coil packs die simultaneously, so I replaced all four, and E3 plugs.

E-bay short shifter is on the way. (that will be fun!)

I also plan on changing the transmission gear oil with RP as well. I got the Metalnerd tool last week.

Timing belt on the horizon soon.

Future plans include coilovers, headlights and a respray.

The ones I can afford at the time. I have looked at VMAXX, Vogtland, Ksport and drooled on Bilstien and Eibach. With shocks and struts at 95.00 apiece and a set of springs at 200.00 I might be able to spin an extra 200 for some VMAXX.

I received the ebay short shifter yesterday. I installed it today.

After some problem solving. Most everything went according to plan but the place where the bushings go was a wee bit too long and I needed to trim a little off.

I went a step further than the instruction for my transmission called for and pulled everything I could apart cleaned it and gave it all some Green Grease love.

Another thing that differed from the B&M instruction was that my model year required that I pull the entire center console out. I am sure some of you already knew that but I am putting it up just in case someone else needs the info.

Thanks for looking.

Nice, I just installed the same shifter last wednesday. I was stumped for awhile before I removed the center console and dash. It was an easy deal after that though.

I've got mine on the middle setting, I'll probably switch it to the lowest one though soon.

Well worth the $35!
