Default GIAC chip problem, please help

I recently purchased and installed a GIAC chip in my 2000 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro, and I noticed a bit of puttering when I would go past 3500 rpm and the car would bounce a little. Since then, the engine light has come on and I was just wondering if there are any solutions or if anything is wrong with the chip, or maybe the DV. Thanks in advance.

Get your ecu scanned. Autozone will scan it for free. Post fault codes.

I have also heard that autozone will scan it but I called my local one here in northern Cali and they said that they don't do that anymore. Maybe it will be different where you live.

Try different locations including advance auto parts, NAPA, etc.

Did you upgrade to a TT DV?

I did not upgrade to a TT DV, I read from many people who did without one and also some who needed one so I just thought I'd wait and see if I for sure needed one. Thanks though, I'll definitely check out Auto Zone though, thanks!

Yeah you should probably go ahead and get a new d.v. Even if it is not what is going wrong it can only help.

TT DV= Bosch 710N
Or you could find a Forge type valve in the classifieds for pretty cheap that will last forever with the exception of changing springs once in a blue moon.
Post the codes when you get them.

ok here's the thing. I just barely installed the stock chip back into my audi, and now its running fine, just like it was before I put in the GIAC chip...any suggestions? I got it scanned at Autozone and he said it might be somethin with the plugs or a coil, which I realized my car doesnt have a coil.....1299 I think was the code...

1299 isn't a fault code. I suggest you go back and get it scanned again, and this time write the fault code down, and post it. It sounds like a bad coil pack, maybe, but without a correct fault it will be guess work until your hands get real dirty. The hippies at AZ should not have smoked themselves so retarded that they can't store the faults and print them for you.
