ah cool, glad to hear it. of the pictures and threads i've read, 8k did seem really blue. people either loved it or hated it seems like.

did you end up with one of the ds1 kits or the newer ds2 kits?

The headlights in my old A4 were depo e-codes from eBay and used H7 bulbs, the ones in my car now are OEM US-spec xenons and take Ds2 bulbs. Again, I can't really tell the difference to be honest. I would like to get rid of the amber reflectors but i don't wanna pull apart a perfectly good set of OEM xenon headlights to do the clear corner mod lol

ohhhh, i misunderstood. my bad.

out of curiousity, what do you think might be the difference between these two setups? one is an ebay (depo) e-code with xenon, and another seems to be essentially the same - helix with xenon. except the cost is significantly different...

ebay: 99-01 AUDI A4/S4 B5 XENON CHROME ECODE CLEAR HEADLIGHTS | eBay

other: 1 Piece Chrome Projector Headlights

i thought helix and depo were essentially the same? how the heck is ebay $200 less for a set with xenon??

Depo and Helix are the same. I ordered Helix lights on eBay the last time I bought new headlights and what showed up were Depo headlights inside Depo boxes. I believe the naming difference depends on who's selling the lights and where they're located.

As for the pricing, that's hard to say. Probably has to do with the brand of the bulbs/ballasts that ship with the housings. Just the magic of eBay, I suppose.

heheh "magic of ebay"

good point on the brand of bulb/ballast tho!

ebay seller's info says they use "alpha" (made in taiwan)

while other store says they use "lucid"

suppose if the bulb and ballast went out on the ebay could always pick up a kit from DDM and still be less than the store with lucid...

meh.
