okay so I got to take a quick look today. I didn't remove the wheel or anything just put it in the air and got under it. Looks like the prob is d/s front. The axle looks good but the bolts that hold it on apparently backed out and at least 1 is broken.

So I guess my plan is after I go tool shopping, is take the wheel off, take axle out and inspect. Clean and inspect the area where the axle bolts on and try to remove broken bolts.
Provided axle is good, I am thinking I can replace those bolts and all be good
any thoughts???

okay axle is out. 2 of the bolts that hold axle to tranny broke. So i guess I need to get new bolts. I have a question... the inner cv joint boot looks good no tears etc.. but there is some in/out play in the inner joint. Question is should there be any? if so how much.
2nd question should i just rebuild cv joint or replace axle? ecs has em for 86 bucks plus shipping

thanks

just an update to this thread, the axle is/was good. I cleaned and re-greased inner joint. The flange is/was good. I thought maybe one of the bolt holes was damaged, but after cleaning and inspection all bolt holes are fine. I had to replace all the axle bolts. I need to get a new shield for over the inner joint but that is about it. thanks for all your help guys

Didn't see this before but in the future if you pop an axle I would rebuild it if possible. CV joint kits are cheap from Blauparts or ECS and you don't have to worry about shitty chinese axles. If you can't do that, give Marty Cook at Raxles a call. His stuff is awesome and he offers a lifetime warrranty for less than OEM cost.

thanks for that CCA4 I did 'rebuild' the inner, (ex boot) and re-greased the outer. The axle is not that old but re-greasing doesn't hurt I guess.
