Talking Got my boost gauge!

Hey just got my VDO 30"-25psi gauge! I bought a wedge-style red LED to match the dash and I'm not sure how it goes in. Do I pull out the black thing on the back of the gauge that looks like an electrical plug? Also, planning on installing in driver's vent. Any ideas for wiring? Thanks guys.

Thats what I'm worried about. I've been twisting and pulling with nothing.

it certaitnly comes out, howelse would you change the bulb.

on my AutoMeter gauge, it has a similar looking piece that has two tabs that fit in slots on the gauge, when you twist the piece, the tabs no longer line up with the slots and the piece is secure. i imagine that you have a similar design. but i dont have a VDO so i dont knwo for sure.

does it turn at all?

Wrongzorz... On every VDO gauge I've installed (oil pressure, oil temp, coolant temp) they were super fragile when it came to taking apart or modifying to fit a cluster. I broke at least one and had to ghetto rig it. If you can, return it and get better quality. I'm not a fan of them at all.

^maybe you know how to remove that piece?

or does wrongzorz mean that it cant be removed?

if the gauge comes with a light and no way of replacing the light bulb, I would call that poor design

That black piece comes out of there. Its just Gud'n'tight.
I pulled it out on my VDO to put in a red bulb. It didnt break, i just had to get after it with some elbow grease and some pliers.

As far as wiring it up, just ground it to the screw thats right above the fuse box, and hook the positive wire up with a ring terminal to the 75x terminal thats behind the knee bolster panel.

here are some directions for the install:

Yeah, I talk funny... Anyways, maybe you guys know something I didn't or things have changed since I installed the gauges in my old car 5ish years ago. But they were crappy design and the bulb housing and gauge housing were super fragile. I'm not a fan.
