I took out my ECU yesterday and it had a sticker on it that said TAP tuned. I was unaware of my car having any tune, the owner before me said nothing about it. It sure doesn't feel like i'm chipped. Has anyone ever heard of TAP?

I did some looking around and it sounds like they tend to fail, from what I read on TAPs site it's $60 to fix.

 

the guy's name is chris tapp. he's really good with custom tunes and quite a few guys on zine use his tune for BT setups. no idea what it compares to with giac and apr though. i'm sure you'll get more answers if you posted on zine

there is a TAP separate from Tapp.

TAP is called Total Audi Performance. Tapp is Tapp Auto in Canada

TAP has been a round a long time and has gained a reputation for shoddy work and bad customer service. You rarely hear of them now - they were a big name back around 2000 in the B5 era.

You'll notice they don;t service anything newer than a 2002. And they haven't updated their site since April 2008 (indeed the site looks like it was built in 2002 and never upgraded).
