I have a 97 a4 with the non bose audi delta set up. I installed a headunit in teh car and now the rear speakers do not work. When put the stock radio they work. I guess its possible that the head unit is faulty. Is there anything else that could be causing this. As far as i know everything is hooked up correctly

 

I have had this issue before.....it always comes down to the fact that the rear speaker connector never gets plugged in. Mine has very little slack and likes to hide in the radio cage. I usually have to fight it to plug in, but when it does, all speakers work.

I know you stated you double checked, but this may be the issue. With the information provided, I see no other reason for them not to work.

I know soldering the new harness in is pretty basic stuff, but is there a chance you missed connecting anything?

 

im gonna try that out.. u mean that the plug sometimes does not fit all the way into the harness?

 

No......the plug fits in the harness, but when ever I am working on the interior, and I have to remove the radio, I usually forget to plug they connector in because it's not readily identifiable. To me it's an easy miss. I have since written a reminder, every time I do work, to look for the connector and plug it in first.

This is based on my experiences though.......just make sure that every connector you took off the stock unit, is plugged into the new head-unit.

 

My car had to be completely re wired for that same reason. Look into it.

 

Really!?!?! Why a whole re-wire?

 

I'm not entirely sure but I know I read somewhere online that other people have had to do the same thing.

 

I replaced my head unit and the two rear speakers in my 2000 non-bose set up. I had to run two new speaker wires, its been a couple years but I believe the stock setup has a passive speaker set-up.

 

i had to run all new wire too

 

I guess I'm the only one without issues then....
