Default headlight out...HID info needed

so the sensor came on tonight and let me know my right headlight was out, but apparently its been out since last night so a friend tells me. is there a reason why the sensor didn't trip last night? could this mean its a bad connection somewhere and not actually the HID bulb itself? the warning light is eratic, and not constant- which is why i think it may be a bad connection somewhere. im pretty sure im running 8000K, (they came with the car when i bought it so im not 100%) anyways, if anyone knows about the connections, and maybe where the problem is let me know, id rather not drop 150 on new bulbs if i dont need to.
then again, the right has been looking a little bit dimmer than the driver side (look at the sig), but id rather rule out electrical first.

Are you talking about stock HID's or aftermarket unit?

been snowboarding all weekend, so i checked the connections on everything a couple nights ago and everything seemed squared away.
so now that i have to buy new bulbs and have no idea what im looking for besides the temperature of the bulbs, how do i figure out the rest? i dont see an aftermarket unit, so im assuming theyre running off the stock HID setup.. when i look online for replacement bulbs there are a ton of different categories or types of bulbs- any help is appreciated and it would be nice if it was quick, i need to drive at night!

For oem HID, you will need a set of D2S bulb ... oem are 4300k but you can go with 6000k if you want a whiter light ... just check if you got single beam hid or bi-xenon hid ...If you car use one bulb to give both High and Low beams, that means your current bulb have two filaments (bi-xenon hid), If you car use one bulb to give High beam and another bulb to give Low beam, that means you current bulb is Single beam hid.

His car has separate high and low bulbs. If you have a yellow high
voltage sticker, where they are connected, it is OEM.

there are two different bulbs for high beam and low beam, only HID on the low beam. the temperature isn't 4300, so the bulbs aren't stock. judging by the color they're 8000K- would there have to have been any mods done to accommodate for higher temp lights? regardless, would i just be able to pick up replacement 8000K bulbs, or do they need to be specific to the setup?

No special need ... I have 6000k bulbs on my oem hid ... any single beam 8000k D2S bulbs will do ( as for eom hid headlight ) ... and like crazyhawk said, H7 bulbs for after market hid and just look for the high voltage sticker so you know if those are oem or after market ...

Default headlight

pull the bulb out of the working headlight and check the bad bulb could be a bad ballast and not your bulb, i had to replace my ballast last month it was full of water.
