headlight question

Default headlight question
i have a 1999.5 a4 quattro....... can i replace the factory bulbs with just the hid bulbs or do i have to get the whole hid kit?

You have to get the ballasts. HID bulbs will not ignite on only 12v.

is xenon or silverstar good alternative to hid?

Silverstar and especially Silverstar Ultras are great, bright, white lights. I have had them for a few years now in various vehicles and love them, but they don't compare to HIDs, IMO.

silverstar ultra's are the next best thing, but they are no HID's. just get the VVME kit, its cheap and so worth it
