But don't go buying a part based on this post. I'm still not sure what's going on. That "fresh air blower voltage static" code is a big clue, I'm just not sure how to nail it down without doing a buch of searching that you can do.
Thanks for posting the link!

OP - most of the time when this happens its because the climate control buttons get stuck. This happened every once in a while with my B5. I used some circuit board cleaner that I got from radio shack and a couple q-tips. Since I did this the problem never returned.

Good luck!

Thanks Jason,
How did you go about cleaning the buttons? Did you pull the env unit out and disassemble or just spray it on there and work the buttons?

Hi, just wanted to let everyone know my heater blower woes were solved by replacing the blower motor resistor. Based on the codes from the env controller and that I had total control over where the air came out and temp, I rolled the dice it was the resistor, and came out on top.

Thanks again for the help.

Don't know where you live, but it's 9F here right now. Bad time of the year to have heater problems. Glad you got it.

I live in Cary NC, just outside of Raleigh, and yes it was very cold this AM, so I got that heater fixed just in time. I did have to drive for about a week with no blower and the windscreen fogging up was actually pretty bad.

My backup car is 1964 Triumph TR4 which the heat works pretty well in, partially because you basically sit right beside the motor, so she got some extra use lately.

This happened to me as well, I think the unit had something spilled on it. Mechanic ended up replacing the control unit.
