New guy saying hello and a couple of questions
I've never owned an audi, but I've been in the Volkswagen scene for years now. I've creeped on this forum for a while to get some information for my passat, but never bothered joining until now.
Been looking for a summer project car, and came across this on craigslist.
98 Audi A4 with S/C - $3000 (Big Rapids)
Like the add says it needs a transmission rebuild and new clutch. I'm assuming it died because of the pes g1 supercharger. Ive looked into those for my passat, just never pulled the trigger. I was wondering what clutch and flywheel you guys recommend for that particular setup, and how much you guys think the transmission rebuild would cost.
Any other inputs/opinions let me know!!

In my opinion, the car looks like it has had a hard life. Front Fender, hood, bumper don't seem to line up quite right. I don't remember where I read it, but I recall people complaining that the tune that came with the supercharger wasn't very good and would run quite lean.
If you're coming from a Passat, you know know that it's an interference engine with a timing belt. At 165k you'll want to find out when the timing belt and other components were last serviced.
As far as the transmission goes, I would just find a good used one rather than spend the time and money rebuilding the one in there. It's not that bad of a job to pull the transmission and clutch, but can get tedious if you're doing it on the floor with jack stands rather than a lift. The 2.8L uses a dual mass flywheel, which should be machined or replaced when replacing the clutch.

Does anyone know if I a 1.8t quattro manual transmission is compatible on the v6 engines?
$3k is way high for that car, I might pay half that even with the blower. The timing belt, trans, and clutch are going to set you back several thousand dollars. Add to that the generally poor shape of the car, I'd pay $3k for that car WITH a working clutch and trans. A 1.8T tranny will fit on that car but you'll get a shorter 5th gear which is the opposite of what you want.
This was true of the original tune that came from PES with the G1, which was written by GIAC. It had a tendency to go lean and put piston/rod pieces through the block...
