Do you have an aftermarket oil pres. gauge? If you're looking at the gauge in the lower left corner of the instrument cluster, I think you might be looking at Oil Temperature. Just double check. Maybe take a pic.

When i purchased my A4 2001 they rebuilt my engine (that's why i got it so cheap) and the head was leaking a Little drop ever so slightly on the passenger side and it was landing on my cat and there fore gave out smoke and a bad smell so i just put some JT weld i think it's called that i had laying around and it stopped it and never again and SO CHECK AROUND YOUR ENGINE FOR LEAK'S THAT MAY DROP ON A HOT PART SUCH AS YOUR CAT....And for your gauge i know that the A4 B5 has oil temp not a oil pressure gauge but i don't know that much about S4 model's

I advise pouring oil on the headers as they are hot.

Hahaha, no but really if you don't know what that smells like you might be in trouble.

i would guess bad head or head gasket, and i think that is the oil temp gauge man... unless its aftermarket. the pressure one is just a light that comes on when the pressure is irregular

yup your all right its the oil temp gauge sorry but it never go's higher then 150 im not sure if its working also.. i looked under the car and where the oil filter screws on to like this square block well its not lined up right and it pinched the top hose thats coming off the filter and ripped it..and where the square block thing connects to the engine it looks like its leaking oil right there also..?? can i just take the oil filter off then try to turn that back into place?

How big of a leak are we talkin here? Have you checked the oil? First thing I'd do is check the oil and make sure you're topped off. You can always put more oil in to get you around while you're diagnosing this thing if its not a huge leak.

seconds, clean up as much of the oil as you can. On the block, subframe, belly pan, etc. That should make it much easier to tell where the leak is actually coming from without having to wade through drips and splatter.

Sounds like a hose and an o-ring or two and your back in business. Look for oil cooler gaskets and hoses on like ecs or somewhere. And why are you asking us dumb a4 guys?
