Default Help in changing from single din to double din

Hi all, could use some help with this. I have a a4 b5 facelift version with the single din.

I would like to change to a double din, is this much work? And what would extras would I need to buy?

Any help locating the stuff I need to rebuild it would be nice, having a hard time searching this up on ebay since im not english and doesnt really know what to search for.

Ive only found DIY's on changing from the pre facelift to facelift, but mine is facelift but single din.

Every help would be much appreciated.

Best regards

If you have a facelift car but its single din it means its a partial facelift radio, was you're car a 1999.5?

Mine is a 1999.5 and had a single din radio cage, but i have one piece head lights.

If you go to DIY B5 A4 Center Console facelift upgrade You'll get a lot of information, i'm pretty sure the climate control units are the same, at least in my car it looks like the same exact unit minus the heated seats.

Hey

Mine is a late 2000. But is still with a single din, think the climate control is different from the one with double din and read somthing about the ash tray also needs replacing. Mine looks exactly the same as the cars with double din, thats what confuses me alot.

From the facelift console picture in the link u sent me it looks like my climate control is abit higher up, and that a double din wouldnt fit in my car, also when I bought the car it was a replaced cd player in it so I just reconed it was delivered as a single din.

You'll need:

- double din cage + the plastic housing
- double din centre console
- ashtray
- climate control
- shifter surround (if you shifter surround is plastic, you can just cut it)
- Symphony radio (it will be direct plug and play)

it wasnt too hard to do.

I got some parts from www.audis4parts.com just msg the guy.

Thanks for the list vgo

Think I will skip the symphony radio while I have another player I want to use Did you get all the parts from that link or did you haveto use ebay some?

Will the parts fit perfectly or is some modification needed? Want it to look as smoothe as possible

I actually got some from www.shokan.com
Though, if I knew any better, I would have just msged the guy from audis4parts for a complete double din parts. The only thing I modified was by cutting the plastic shifter surround I received from a fellow here.
