Help with possible bad throwout bearing
My 2001 Quattro 1.8t has 180K miles on it and just started making a metalic sounding rattle. The rattle won't happen with the clutch out while not in gear. When I press the clutch the sound starts and then when I shift it into gear it gets a bit worse. When I disengage the clutch to drive it gets louder and then stops once I get some speed.
Is this for sure the throw out bearing? Could it be the clutch fork or release arm?
Is there anything else I should think about replacing once I drop the trani, i.e. flywheel, slave, etc that is a good preventative repair?
