Default Help in what to do with car

Ok so Reverse and 1st gear are slipping way bad. So this is what I need help in deciding, I found a Audi/vw shop around my area that will rebuild it for about 3000 to 3500 with a year warranty, Or I found a shop that works on every kind of car that will put a used one with 80,000 miles in for 2900. I still owe 3000 on the car what would be the better way to go? Should I part the car out then just pay the difference in what i owe? Or choose one of the other choices? Oh ya the car has 175000 miles on it and is auto

Umm seems super steep 3-3500 for a rebuilt and labor.. I had a quote for a rebuild + labor for 1750... If you have a shop that you always go to, go to that shop. You'll build a relationship with them, and eventually they'll help you out. I don't really know what else to tell you. If you love your car, then by all means keep it. If you can't afford it, then you have to figure something out.. Good luck

2nd! if you arent able to do it yourself find a good mom and pop place to do it. im a big supporter of using used parts. you could prolly find one for under a grand

Well I have a buddy that works on cars but haven't been able to do anything since we have been in school, but has anybody ever switch an auto for a manual?
