Default help, whining from engine

2000 2.8L 5-speed, my car has recently started to whine very loud through the RPM range, it is very high pitched when i start my car almost like a whistle, but when the car warms up and the rpm's drop, the whistle kicks off and it starts to whine. jeremy mentioned to me that there is a pump attatched to the stock airbox that will go if there is no filter on it, i have an aftermarket intake. could this be the problem? any advice will help. thanks

If you can post up a video or sound clip most people here can tell you what the whine can be. My guess would be your secondary air pump is making the whine noise. But, I could be wrong. Here is a diagram of the secondary air pump (Item #1) so, you can check for the noise there.

i will try to post up a video today, the only problem is how loud my viscous fan is, i dont know if it will overpower the whining noise, but i will give it a try! thanks

forgot to mention that my ABS light is on, and Brake light is flashing, throwing P0411 code, also CEL is on for an evap sensor, would run my car for codes to get the exact one for the CEL but my OBDII port has recently stopped working, tried several scanners and they say no connection can be made, checked all fuses. could use help with that too. thanks all

When you first described that you hear it at first start up, I immediately thought of the Secondary Air Pump which is quite almost normal for us to hear at cold starts.

Does the whine somewhat sound like a supercharger? You accelerate and it gets louder?

ok big update, i went up and looked at my SAP, it is bad, the upper hose is missing( i am guessing that it was attached to my factory intake) i unplugged it to see if it will stop the whining upon startup. here is a pic just for referance,

NOW. there is a second whining noise, that is present after the car has warmed up and never goes away, yes it sounds like a supercharger almost, goes up and down with RPM's, this noise is not related to the SAP, it almost sounds like it is coming from the top, front of the engine... near the coils or intake manifold, maybe just below them. i will update a video tonight, the sound is very clear in it i am just having trouble getting it from my phone, to here.

also i found this while i was looking at the vac lines, i dont know if it is related, but it looks like someone put some kind of sealant on this line and covered it up with duct tape

ok finally got the video, let me know if this helps anyone to identify what this is, the video is when my car is warm, at 1/4 temp. and i have had a slight loss of power, but that may be from the SAP. let me know what you think

i just saw a video that sounded the same, and they said it was the serpantine belt tensioner.

SAI is only used on cold starts it wouldn't stay on and cause whining. A tensioner would be a good place to check.
