Hey guys new audi driver,2.8L 12v or 30v?
hey guys so i just got my frist car and its audi 1997 a4 2.8L quattro, i didnt really have a choice on what engine it is, and if i payed any less it would stealing it
. Anyways since it is my first car i am very excited to be driving it not worried about the power yet but would be very interested to find out if it is 30v or 12v to be honest i dont even know what the valves are for.
So if someone could explain to me on how i could find out how many valves are in it that be awsome.
Thanks for help.

What year is it? Read the stickies at the top of the B5 forum, lots of helpful info. Valves let the air/fuel mix into the cylinders and let the exhaust gas out. 12 valves means 12 total, 2 per cylinder. 30v, likewise, means 30 total, 5 per cylinder.
Thanks for your help guys.
I guess its the 12 valve engine.
Yah i do want to get it maybe supercharged down the road not now but i do need to replace the exhaust since this one has a hole in it. But there are some info in the stickies for that.

the 12v does not have any options for supercharging. a company called Motodyne offered one for the 12v supposedly, however NO ONE has ever had anything good to say about the company and the product they offer. Many people's kits came incomplete and did not work, therefore i do not consider that an option.
You could always fab something up custom, but that'd be pointless as well...so i'd say there really arent any options for supercharging for the 12v motor.
