Some extra bright leds would probably make more sense, to say the least. You would have to mount the ballast for HIDs somewhere, and the bulb might get too hot, nor would it likely fit.

Why would you do that?

I swear there was a thread like this some time last year.

Not a good idea. They'd melt your tail light housings for sure. Just get some LED bulbs online or go to AutoZone and get a pair of Sylvania Ultrabright back up bulbs. I had them in my 97 and they were more than bright enough

Not to mention that by the time they warmed up, you already have shifted out of reverse anyhow. I want a set of backups off a newer Cadillac. Those things are insanely bright.

Just mount a few of these on the trunk. They are plenty bright enough, trust me!

We had a few a couple deployments ago for our .50 cal heavy machine guns. We could drive down the road with just that light and see clear as day... A-Mazing!
