hi, does any one here knows or have a detailed procedure on how to change a coil pack? i think i have to replace my coil pack one of this days.. its a 1999 audi a4 1.8t, any help will be highly appreciated..

 

unscrew unplug and replace? idk lol

 

theres a coil pack for each cylinder. take off your plastic cover that is covering the valve cover. there is three plastic screws, flat head screw driver works. there will be four coil packs under that. each is held down by 2 allen bolts and the wire is clipped into it. lift up on the silver clip too release the wire then take out the 2 bolts and pull the coil pack out.

this is how it works on my car, hope this helped

 

While you're there, might want to pull the spark plugs and inspect them at least...

 

yea they are held down by bolts. with a 6mm allen i think. un screw unplug replace.

Also, like I said, since you'll have the coil packs off, might as well at least check the sparkplugs with a spark plug socket and a 10 inch extention...

by the way.. i saw you had a air filter in there.. is that knn?? are you having troubles once you installed them? coz i have told by somebody that upon installing knn filter u will have a lag cause the knn airfilter has some oil in or i dont know if thats what they mean, just wanna ask, by the way i have 99 1.8t. thanks again

 

definitly check your spark plugs!

 

From what I've read here in AF, some people love their K&N, others hate it. The intake on this car is actually pretty efficient by itself, so the aftermarket intake is more of a personal taste. Now, K&N filters need to be oiled to work properly, however putting too much oil has been known to make MAF sensors go bad. Either way, if the car is breathing better through an aftermarket intake, you definately won't have more lag...
