Default How cold does the engine have to be to change spark plugs?

Hey,

I just got back from school and I wanted to change my spark plugs. I know I need to wait for the engine to be cold but how cold does it need to be? Can it only be done in the morning before moving the car or if I wait like an hour should I be ok? Wait until my coolant temp gauge doesnt go up anymore?

Thanks

Is there any chance of damaging the engine if it's too hot or simply burning myself? The later I can handle lol

couple of hours would be best. You can certainly burn yourself and also the torque will be a bit different with the engine hot vs. cold.

i'd do it as cold as possible but definitely when you won't burn yourself. also i'd go back and retighten them if you don't do them when the engine is rly cold
