Default How did you get your A4?

It's prob around here somewhere but I haven't found it yet so I figured I'd start one.
Question: How did everyone get there A4? I know not everyone was searching for their car, or maybe it's a hell of a story??

I got my A4 not to long ago, I had sold my truck due to it being a major gas hog a cop magnet... Got a $1,000 out of the old girl. Was actually looking into a 1998 GTI off a friend of mine for $600. Figured I would put rims on it, quick paint job and a fart can In hopes some high schooler would fall in love with it and I'd make some decent cash. Well that plan failed when my buddy calls to tell me the GTI **** a trans on the way over to my house.... Wasn't to happy about it considering I had been car hunting for about 3 weeks and was sick of it!
I had the Craigslist car page preloaded on my phone ( been checking it every 20 mins for a car haha) so I jump back on the page hit the refresh and out o no where this 1999 Audi A4 1.8t 5spd was forsale 20mins away from me for $1,000 cash firm! Called the guy up, was the first to talk to him on the car said I had cash and wouldn't even hassle on the price. Not to long later I was driving my new Baby home she's got high miles but I don't think I could of bought a nicer fully loaded turbo car for cheaper! And I've been I love with it sence day 1.

I got mine a year and a half ago, I wasn't planning on getting a new car, but I also didn't plan on being t-boned by a drunk driver. Well since someone upstairs decided to keep me alive I was left without a car and was driving my dads e36 bmw, which isn't all that bad. It just so happened that on one of my days off a guy came into our store asking if anyone needed a car for cheap. My co worker called me and told me to jump on it, I called the guy and he was actually a regular of ours and I had even helped him change his starter in our parking lot once. I talked to him and he was super nice and told me to just take the car until I got the insurance money that way I had something to drive. The insurance gave me 1400 for my pickup and I offered him that, he told me just to give him 1200. So I got a 2001 a4 quattro 1.8t 5-speed with 240k. Along with that came a 3" stack of service records. I feel like I totally lucked out with this car

I got a job at the local paper mill where my dad worked and kept my job at circuit city over the summer. i worked all summer and saved up the cash. i wanted a very specific car. it had to be a 1.8t, quattro, sport package, black in color, and i really wanted cold weather package. found an 01 with 115k for $7500. offered $6500 and drove it home

I was warming up my dad's B5 after school one day. I checked CL on my phone and a '99.5 Volcano Black 1.8T Sport ... came up for a good price. Sort of low mileage and one owner. I emailed the guy, but expected it to be a scam.
I got home ate dinner and was walking to my room when the seller called (about 8:45pm). He told me he had a bunch of emails, but I was the only one to include a number. We chatted for a bit and I told him I'd look at it the next day. My mom begged me to just go look at it that night. I called him back and told him I buy it that night.
We showed up. My car was sitting in the garage. It looked so pretty. I fell in love. The guy told me he wouldn't sell the car until he replaced a faulty control arm. I didn't want to miss the chance to buy the car so I made him an offer he wouldn't refuse. I had the biggest smile on my way home.

LoL, I found mine on craigslist as well...when I found it it was on the other side of Dallas from me drove about 50 miles to see it.. it has high miles as well but I now am a Audi-convert... I love this car gave about 3k for it with no real problems so far ( knock on wood!) It turns out , when I went to get my oil changed I found that the car was from right here in Rockwall and the previous owner used the same service station..what are the odds!!?? I think its got to be meant to be so!! I love the feeling of being sucked back into the leather seats in all gears! My son loves it to..he's 11 and already is saying " When I'm 16 can I have it"?

Found mine on Autotrader. One owner, bone stock, 75k miles. I drove 4.5 hours to get it and traded my first B5 for it.

I bought mine for $1 off my dad at 138k and have since put $4k in parts into it. Needed a ton of work. Hoping to get 225k out of the car.

A man that lives down the road from me was moving to panama for some odd reason and he needed to sell it fast (sounds like a scam but we have know the guy for forever) at first my mom went down there because she thought she might want it and I rode down there and fell in love. 98.5 a4 1.8T Quattro, when I got it it had a performance exhaust, stage 2 chip, stage 2 performance tuning, and k&n air filter. New timing belt and all maintance up to date, he had a garbage bad full of maintance records going back all the way to the receipt for the car. Bought it two days later, best $4,500 ill ever spend

I bought my car in 2008, it's a 98 a4q 5speed v6 base. I bought it cause I had just had my twin daughters and needed something safer and more reliable than my mk2 jetta or my jeep with no floors. So I picked up my gem off some guy on Craigslist. Went up looked at it on a Thursday night and pulled in and there where 4 other German cars there. The car I was there to see was a silver a4 he was asking 6000$ it only had 86k, but it had to be jumped when I got there. I took it for a ride and fell in love. So I came back and offered him 4gs and he said no. Heckled a little bit he wanted 5000$ no less. So I walked, told him to call me if he wanted to sell it. I was pulling down his long *** driveway and he called me and said if I could do 4200$ I could have it. I smiled backed up his driveway and paid the man and arranged meeting him and dad at the notary in morning. Smiles for days.
Car has only left me stranded once.
I though about trading it this week for something else and I think I'm stupid for even considering it

About 2 weeks ago, I ended up selling my 1990 Mazda Rx7 GXL for $2500 because I wanted to get something more gas efficient like a Civic. I found a 97 Civic on craigslist and contacted the seller asap. He said he would show me the car in 5 days because he was out of town. I was willing to wait, but ended up checking craigslist every now and then.

That night I saw a red 1999 Audi A4 1.8T with grey sports package interior? for sale. The seller wanted $3500 for it, but ended up dropping it down to $2900 in another posting. I contacted him, asked him if he would take $2500 and he said yes because he needed to make deposit on a newer car. I drove down about 2 hours away and it looked absolutely sexier in person than in the pictures. Test drove it and was kinda ehhh about the clutch pedal engaging at a higher height, but I ended up buying the car.

I think I got a really good deal. The mileage is at 188k, 5 speed, tinted windows, everything works!
