Hello!
I have a 1998 Audi A4... :]

I have the stock headlights and bulbs and whatnot and I want to upgrade to HID's. I was wondering if someone could help me with this? Also when I do HID's do i need projector bulbs?
Please help.

Projectors are recommended so you won't blind oncoming traffic. I know real HID projectors have cut off point to prevent the light for shining above certain point.

Seems like your Audi is the pre-facelift so I'm not sure if H7 is the bulb type.

 

i think he have stock headlights. thats not projectors i think its the 2 piece headlight w/the h7 bulb. same as the 99.

 

Okay, I am going to buy these ballasts I think.

I am going to buy a whole new headlight unit that would come with projectors... and the bulbs and ballasts from DDM. Do any of you guys know or recommend the headlight unit and where to buy it?

I really recommend you go with higher quality ballasts than that crap. Stuff that OEMs use like Matsushita, Denso, etc. And don't use the aftermarket "re-based" stuff that doesn't use proper HID connectors.

 

are you referring to the ddm link he posted? because ddm is the ****... they have lifetime warranty, and are direct plug and play install... takes 45 mins tops... and are also very reasonably priced...

I agree and disagree with your statement. I was always taught that if you undertake something, do it right the first time. Why do something with inferior products if you can spend extra and not have to worry about it. That being said I like you would probably go for the better quality ballasts.

The problem with that is they are often pricey. For the same price as a ballast, one can purchase a whole kit. Many people can only afford so much for the smaller things, while using the bulk of their money on more important things.

If many use their product with no issue and it is also backed by a lifetime warranty, then what is the problem? There is nothing wrong with saving a few bucks. Even you should be able to appreciate that.
