Default How do you know a car is quattro?

Besides the badges, of course?

Serious question, I know it sounds silly!

My concern is that someone is selling a Quattro but really it's FWD.

See if it has a rear axle.

It should also say Quattro on the dash trim.

Maybe one of yall can help me then..

I was looking at the FWD 2001 Audi A4, but someone is selling a 2001 A4 Quattro for much cheaper oddly enough. Sounds pretty good to..

Besides making sure all (4) tires are the same, do AWD cars require different maintenance / care than FWD?

Yes and no, you have 4 more cv boots that can rip, 2 more axles that can snap, and a differential to deal with. However none of these are common failures and all are easy/cheap to replace/maintain. Quattro FTW

Yea there's really not much maint added with the quattro. But the advantage in bad weather is just terrific.
