How do you tell which brake pads to buy?

Default How do you tell which brake pads to buy?

As far as I know, there were no differences in brake calipers '96-01 for the A4. Any pads made for that year range should work.

They do have different codes for different types of callipers. Does anybody know how to tell what callipers your car has?
