luck has nothing to do with it. the way the clutch was manufactured/installed, the way the car is driven, power level of the car vs holding power of the clutch, where the car is driven; these have everything to do with clutch life.

THis is the part I would call luck. I have no control over how the car was manufactured, any foreign materials in the clutch assembly, etc. SInce it's out off the owners control, it's luck.

well your luck will change depending on what brand of car you drive. OEM german engineering has a lower number of manufacturing screw ups then some other more cheaply made hondas or suzukis. but the individual driver is a much bigger deciding factor on clutch life.

Damn, I didn't even mention the other car, but yes it was a Honda Accord. Both drivers in their 40's. German clutches last forever, especially BMW's. The engine and tranny are built well on these machines, but it ends there. Every time I look at my pixelating driver info center, or change coil packs that were just changed less then 10k miles ago I wanna shove someones leiderhosen where the sun don't shine...

every car has its ups and downs. hondas are cheaper to maintain but thats the price you pay for driving such a fine piece of german engineering ^^ a well maintained audi will outlast most hondas, although this also comes down to the individual owner again. the coil packs and cluster problems are one of those things audis are notorious for. im glad my 98 doesnt have the newer dash display. and knock on wood ive never had to replace a coil yet. now that i said that my cel will be flashing in the morning....

I wonder how long the stock clutch would last doing this? LOL I dont even think my car would even leave the line if it had a stock clutch in it.

BTW that is the new 1/4 mile record for a A4 1.8t with a 10.55 at 132 mph.

LOL, I guess someone has to be right?

You think that's crazy, here is my run just before that one. So ride shotgun on a run where I spin the tires like crazy in 1st gear and still run 10.7 at almost 136 mph.
