How to tell when CV and Bearings Going Bad
All,
How can you tell if the CV and/or bearings are going south? My front right started making a w-w-w-w (best word description) sound a couple of months back and it has been slowly getting louder. I have 121k miles and that corner always bears the brunt of potholes. I also replaced all 4 ninespoke alloys this time last year due to potholes.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Duggan

cv usually click when they are bad, but sometimes when they are dried out they can make a screeching noise usually when taking off from a stop. You can look under the car and see if there is a thick grease on the inside of your wheel. That indicates a torn CV boot.
