i had a turbo given to me, i have a 1.8 quattro.
i dont know exactly what the stock turbo is but its OBVIOUSLY small.

but the person that gave me the turbo doesnt know what it is....
( also was given a test pipe with hardware for free lol)

the part number is " 058 145 703 J "
and it also has this number on it

" 5304 101 50 95C 2 " K" and the k is in a triangle.

The K is for KKK, thats a good sign that its not a knock off. Could be a K03s or a K04? pics?

just because someone has a turbo and gives it to you doesnt mean you can use it lol...

thats like saying "holy ****, this guy just GAVE me a transmission... and i know that my car uses a transmission, so i should be good to go right?!?!?!"

i mean, theres always ways to make things work, but for the time and money it will take to make it work, you might as well sell it for whatever you can get out of it and buy stuff that is proven to work well with our little 1.8's...

 

so it would make no differnce then the turbo that is stock on my car???

the only good thing to swaping it is i found where the manifold bolts to the turbo ( the three bolts that if i remember are 17mm.) well one is missing and is broken of in the turbo and i cant get it out. so i have a terrible exhaust leak that is ANNOYING to listen to.

and i know its a little newer then mine because the compressor wheel is a TOTALLY different design.
