are stock A4's naturally fast from the factory -- like throw you back in your seat fast around 3-4k rpm? because i recently bought a 98.5 1.8 manual and its faster than all other A4's I've driven (2.8s or 1.8s) It's even faster than my dad's 02' Maxima (255hp)
Is it possible the previous owner chipped it and just didn't tell me or something? this car has 178k miles btw

I don't belive mine is chipped, and I held my own with an Acura RSX a while back. I don't think they are that slow. And mine is a Tip. I didn't win, but he didn't blow my doors off.

see what it revs up to if it goes to 7100 and starts pinging your chiped, if it goes to around 6700 its the stock rev limiter and your not, or see if you can pass the 130mph mark

Lol, thats what i thought to myself...
But anyways.. I wouldnt be too happy to find out that the 178k a4 I just got is chipped because that means he probably beat on it + the higher boost..

Ifelt that my car was pretty quick, stock ('01), but a chip really gives that throw-you-back feeling at 3k, verse tilting your head.
Didn't notice that the rev limiter is changed with a chip, but there's nothing wrong with free-revving a warm motor. If it passes 6700, then you know!
