If it's a factory color, then all you'll need is a paint code and possibly vehicle manufacturer.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

It's an Audi color!!!

It's a metallic color from 1996.

Code: LY3Z Autumn Red

This might be the best route to buy it from:http://www.expresspaint.com/automoti...ly-18p5327.htm

No prob

Some of the B5's painted Autumn Red look different depending on the light. I personally like the more copper-brighter look over the darker version. I'm not sure why the contrast is so great though. Such a nice and rare color. I've only seen that color on a car once in person

I'd guess the dealer marks it up some, but I have no idea. Keep in mind, different dealers mark up differently

Dealers and body shops mark up paint somewhat and there's a standard markup that everyone bases off of. That being said, it's generally better to buy it direct, like Skythe said. The nice part about the ordering direct is that you can tinker with the paint a little easier so you can add/subtract flake and play with the tint and variance a little.

If you can get a chip of the EXACT variance of autumn red that you want, the supplier can hold it up to their color eye and get an exact match. Personally, I like going to direct to an autobody supplier more than ordering online.

sounds like ill just buy the paint. Next question, since it is an Audi color. Is it best to let an Audi dealer paint it, or can a normal shop do just as good as a job. I have a guy who touched up my paint on my bumper but that was a favor I don't want to give him a full job without paying.

A lot of private shops can do just as good, or better, of a job than the dealerships and are probably a little cheaper.
