Default ignition control module?

it's been a while since I've posted, been busy with work and some lifestyle changes so I haven't had much time to work on the car or browse the forums. a couple weeks ago my car developed a misfire, which I traced to cylinder #2 by unplugging each coilpack with the car running, and seeing which one made no difference to the idle. I went ahead and replaced the spark plugs and the #2 coilpack, but it's still misfiring. my next suspicion is the ignition control module, but I don't know where on the car it is... I have a haynes manual but it doesn't even mention the ICM in it. can anyone help a brother out with a description and ideally some pics of how to find my ICM? I need to find out what brand I have before I can order one from ECS. thanks in advance.

Its located on top of the airbox with a connector on both sides, one side will be 5-prong, the other will be 4-prong. Have the same problem with the misfiring but in cylinder one, hope its my spark plugs because they are way overdue (almost 60,000 miles on BKR6E sparks, ya I know I'm bad [:'(]) and my mis fires happen sometimes and sometimes not, weird.

I believe the OEMs are Bosch, correct me if I am wrong, you could also get a no-name one for half price.

ah, that must be what the haynes refers to as the "power transistor". thanks very much, that's a big help.

according to the ECS site, I need to match the brand of my old one... can anyone else verify this? ECS offers 3 different brands, including bosch.

Verify part number, and you can get a new one either from Bosch or another cheaper brand. Plug the pn# in the ECS website and you'll find it.
