In2? - Im new.
Hey everyone. I just bought a 97 A4 yesterday. Today I turned the key and recieved a In2 message flashing on my trip odometer. How bad is this?
Hey man, congrats on the new car.
Don't worry about that "IN2" message. That is an "Inspection" indicator. Just telling you that you should bring the car in for its scheduled tuneup. You will get that every 10K miles or so and needs to be cleared with a VagCOM (or dealer) if you want to get rid of it.
It gets annoying, but doesn't hurt anything being there. On any '98 and up can reset it yourself, but you have a 97 so it must be done with the Vag.

I bought the v6 2 wheel drive model. Oh yeah, and the IN2 light is on, the cupholder broke, the ashtray is now jammed, the cig lighter is jammed, brake light came on today and the dealer quoted me 200 bucks for a new doorremote control. It's not been a good day. Not having a good Audi experience.

get yourself the Passat cupholder for 30 bucks or something. Works real nice.
The problem with the ash tray is usually just a coin that slips underneath and gets stuck in the gearing. Search Audiworld for info on how to get the ash tray out.

My cupholder broke at one point - I took my console apart and found that a clip had cme apart and the spring was not "springing"... Took my 2 seconds to fix it once my console was apart (which took forever)...
Today I took the whole ashtray out to find that one of the gears was snapped in half, i managed to glue it back together and it's working. My cup holder will spring back into place, it just wont stay down. Guess thats another project for tomorrow.

Yeah got mad at mine cuz it woulnt open and I mashed it with my fist several times to see if that would help.....well long story short it was frightened off my wrath and decide to hide inside my console. DOH...yeah I break more stuff that way....Come to think of it thats how my stock radio went.
