Default Installed Boost Gauge

So today I put in my VDO boost gauge, I'm positive I hooked everything up right, and when I started my car, it did nothing. No reading whatsoever. The only thing that went array in the instalation was the hose that comes from the FPR snapped in half because of how old and brittle it was, so I just replaced it with one of the thick rubber vac. tubes that was included with the kit. Shouldn't make any difference right? I'm kinda concerned, either I have a HUGE boost leak, or somethings not right. But I don;t see how something can not be right when your just shoving little tubes onto fittings? Someone please help!

(oh and never try to close your hood with a windsheild wiper up. I learned that the hard way, Snapped the whole thing clear off.[:@])

I would try hooking the gauge up to a bike pump to see if the gauge is dead.

Yeah, the guage must be dead. Its funny you mention breaking your winshield wiper. I did the same thing today clening my car but mine survived. lol.

ok thats a good idea. I'll try it tomorrow. Thanks guys. And yeah, I'm really pissed about that. My car's about 300 miles past its due service date so I gotta take it in monday to have it serviced and I'll just have them order me one. I have a feeling its gunna cost me a lot more than I think.... today was just a bad day to take my car apart I guess. I accidentally broke a lot of little misc. plastic pieces off stuff in the engine compartment today.

oh and btw, if anyone is considering buying a VDO with a steering wheel pod, don't. The Pod mount sucks (well at least for my car.) It doesn;t fit good at all. It just kinda sits on top of the wheel mount, and doesn't correctly pop into place. Spend the extra cash and go with a podi mount. I think I'm gunna order one just cause I can't get mine to fit.

I went with the autometer pillar mount. It fits perfectly. See pics.

well I fixed it today. The problem was a rock about a 16th of an inch into one of the vac lines. Must have happened when I accidentally dropped it in the dirt. What are the odds of that? Good thing I cought it. But it works good now, and the gauge sits at about -15 vac at idle. I think thats about right if I recall. SO overall I'm happy, I just gotta get the damn column to fit. I was going to stick my new forge MBC in today too, but then it hit me, why even bother with an MBC on a stock k03? Its not liek I can crank it up to 20lbs of boost or anything. I'm debating on either sending it back and using the 100 bucks to buy something else, or to just wait till I'm chipped.

my mount fits great, do know why urs isn't, any ways, might as well sell your mbc because unless your chipped or have a diod mod you will over boost and blow up ur car, besides the forge mbc isn't a bleed style it is a ball and spring (dosn't realy matter but a bleed stylr is better for your turbo)

So I just tested it out, and at idle it reads -15 in. HG, and it peaked at 11 psi boost in the top of 3rd gear. Is it normal for the second you let off the gas the needle drops suddenly back into the - Hg range? Just crusing around 20 mph keeping it a little above 2k rpms, the gauge reads from 0 to -10 HG. I'm assuming its normal?

Your sig says you're chipped so why are you worried about the MBC? Plus you're boost sounds normal if your ECU is stock but if you do have the GIAC then something is wrong. Leak possibly.
