Default Installed wrong bosch o2 sensor??

Hey guys, I just installed a Bosch 15733, which i just now realized does not seem to support the 1996 A4 2.8 quattro. About 15 miles after I installed it the car started to run like crap , had loss of power, sputters, rough idle etc. I only replaced one of them, the drivers side front sensor.

Did I order the wrong part and should I send it back? Please reply asap!!

any time you use splice together o2 sensors its a 50/50 chance of it FAILING. spend the money by oem fittment. universal style could be a millionth of a volt off and it wont oparate correctly

I unplugged the O2 sensor and its running fine again, but i want to get it to pass inspection eventually. Ive got 2 more sensors but im returning then and getting one that is "supported"... Im not spending that much cash on 4 OEM sensors either.

Not true, all the 02's I buy are universal bosch wire in, I installed about a dozen this year alone and had 0 failure rate. They just have to be properly soldered.

maybe some other culprits causing the o2 sensor to malfunction. My guess is other bad sensors causing the computer to register bad o2 sensor.

Do they have to be soldered or can they be spliced with their splice kit? What I want to know is if I should return the 3 sensors I bought i get the ones that are for a 1996 car. They fit the 2000 A4 according to their supported cars list, but not the 1996 one.

ok well i am speaking of personal experience. i have never had any luck with solder or splice or butt connected o2s. i have also had cheap oem fitment fail after 5k miles. most bosch stuff okay most of time.
take them back get correct year suported 02s and try again. sucks but hey ya live and ya learn. should clear up issues
