Default installing a forge splitter.......

Anyone here has a write up or pictures or both on how to install a splitter? i keep hearing that you should install it backwards and then that you shouldn't because it will develop a leak of some sort? if anyone could please help, i have my car up in jack stands in my driveway ready to go. i opened it up and greased it cuz i opened it and it was dry..
so i start by removing the old D.V right by the bottom inter cooler hose right? i tried searching but couldn't find a write up...
thanx...

what year is your car?

if its a 99.5-01 the top of the splitter points towards the top of the car.. when looking down through the engine, you should see that nipple thing to plug the vac hose onto.. its really easy... i did mine in 5min.. and pulled it out 2000 times already...

Dont install it backwards. Just make sure the bottom port on the dv is going into the pressure/intercooler side (not the small hose that recircs back into the intake.) You can install a diaphragm dv like a 710N or stock in reverse to make it slightly louder when it recircs, but it causes more stress on the rubber diaphragm that way and could tear more easily. You can install a spring DV in reverse too, but contrary to some theories, there is no point.

its a 01' 5 speed...i took out the old dv already...just that the stupid clamps were a bitch cuz they were at an awkward angle...so the horn thing should be facing the engine block right?or at least that is what i heard....?

I guess. I use my spitter as 100% recirc so I can't remember which way the horn faces. Just make sure the bottom port on the dv is plugged into the hose that runs to the intercooler piping, not the long curvey hose that routes back to the intake.

i think my horn faces the ground... all i know is that if i stick my hand into my engine from the top. i am able to twist the top of the dv.

Just turn it about 20 clicks and put it in. Remember, if you have an automatic you won't hear if blow off when shifting... Unless you let off the gas abruptly during shifts, which would be totally ghey and probably not be healthy for your tranny on a regular basis.

edit
oh i just saw you said its a 5spd.

Turn it all the way counter clockwise till it stops (weakest setting) and then 15-20 clicks clockwise. This setting would be fine for stock or chipped.
