Default intercooler problamz

Hey guys, I posted a thread earlier regarding a secondary air pump and whether or not it was legit to remove it. To follow up on that thread; I ended up deleting the whole thing. No CEL, no problems.

However, I do have a new problem now. The turbo outlet is slipping off the intercooler piping (I used 2.25" hotside) so I'm wondering how I can fix it. Should I get it welded, or is there a simple solution I'm missing? I tried using a coupler and two clamps, it doesn't wanna stay put[X(]

Yeah I think if you just get a bead welded to the end it will work out pretty well. Nice meeting you btw!

For sure man. It wouldn't have happened without you though Hop on MSN!

What about tack welding it, then bead welding? I want to make sure this **** won't fall off, even when I've got a bigger turbo. Granted, I'll have a new outlet/inlet hose, but I want to make sure no matter how hard I boost it won't slip.

how are you gonna weld it to the outlet pipe? the outlet pipe is rubber, just get some t-clamps instead of the cheap clamps, my hotside pipe kept blowing off either the ic or the outlet pipe, but since i've used t-clamps it hasn't blown off at all

He is using T-clamps. The problem is that the pipes were to long so we had to cut the ends off (which had the rolled edges) so it's just a smooth pipe now. There is nothing to hold the pipe on very well. f he puts a bead weld along the outside edge of the pipes he shouldn't have any problems anymore because it will act like the rolled edges again. Just it will be a weld and not rolled.

o i thought you were talking bout welding it TO the outlet pipe. yeah that would help, but i dont have rolled edges and my pipe stays on fine boosting 21psi. you can really tighten t-clamps down hard, they shouldn't blow off with a k03.

They blew right off, in first gear, before full boost. If I can get beads welded on, then I can clamp it down like no other just before the "rolled" tip, that way the t-clamp can't even budge.

And yeah, Brian, the t-clamps are down so hard, the blue couplers have white stress-lines where the clamps are. They're tightened 100% -- they won't go any more.

thats weird. you have larger piping and pushing less cfm than me but mine dont blow off. is the outlet pipe really twisted? or is the pipe coming in at a bad angle?
