Default i've officially lost my mind!

Hey everyone - haven't posted in a while.

Last time i posted i insisted that i was to get an s4 as a weekender as i had a company car coming my way. So i got the car which is a ford fusion (2008, cant complain there ) and i still have my 1.8t. I officially made the decision to BT this sucker. The reason i went BT v s4, is the paininthefuckingass factor. I figure im only looking to make 350 - 400 hp without constantly worry about exploding turbo chargers.

Im thinking a gt28rs if i can get away with NOT replacing the rods. Would it be stupid to run a gt28rs without scat rods or whatever? I read that the rule of thumb is 350hp on the stock rods is the max but im not sure if that was to the wheels or the crank? What about t3t4s? Can you get away with more hp on the stock rods with these because of the slower spool? Does that make it a little easier on the internals? I want to do this the right way, so if i have to replace rods then so be it. But i would like to NOT have to take apart the engine.

Obviously - i read the FAQ but want input from the guys that actually have a BT setup that is good for 350hp -400hp.

The plan is to mod everything for the boost first - FMIC, mounts, brakes, suspension etc. Then throw in a new ECU with injectors when its finally time to install the BT.

What about engine delete stuff to make the bay more wrench friendly? Do the A4 guys even do this? Or is that more a VW thing / show car thing. I plan on driving this car on weekends and whatnot and have 0 ambition to enter it into a show or anything lame like that.

its an 2001 AWM 5 speed. about 110k on the clock. So i think its a good candidate to BT.

I've been doing research for a week now on it, but would rather hear from you guys first hand who have spent the time and effort.

and i swear, the next guy that says 'buy an s4 and chip it' is getting pistol whipped

"GT28RS
Finally we get into the "real" turbo's. This is the turbo you want to go with if you don't want to swap internals and you want minimal lag but still want nice power. You will need Tuning (Uni/CTapp (see a pattern forming), if you have a b6- REVO), Exhaust Manifold, Custom Intake, VR6/Ford Lightning MAF, 440cc/630cc Injectors, AFPR, MBC/EBC, Exhaust, FMIC, Clutch, and New Mounts."

***Big Turbo and High Performace*** UPDATED 4/26/2011 - AudiFreaks

this FAQ says otherwise...

stock internals are good for ~350tq and hp

Our on FAQ says "gt28rs- ~400hp"
