Hey guys, I just picked up this 2001 Audi A4 1.8tqm for $7,000 after months of shopping around to replace my totaled 1999.5 2.8qm. The only mods it has on it right now is a giac chip, 710n diverter valve, debadged, valeo headlights, and a reiger front bumper. I want to do a couple mods like the DIY airbox mod and possibly a boost gauge. As far as the exterior goes, right now the wheels are stock sport package painted in a gunmetal color. I would really like to find some s4 wheels (17" or 18") for a good price. I know I need to paint the lowers but have not seen many red A4's with painted lowers so if anybody can post a pic of what it would look like, I would appreciate it.

So what do you guys think of the car and my plans for future mods?

looking good... once you get the front bumper 'flowing' better with the rest of the body it'll be a super hot ride.

how many miles? 7000 is a good price, especially with GIAC already installed... i almost wish i would have splurged a little extra for a facelift b5 but i'm pretty happy with my AEB

 

yeah, ill agree that your car won't look complete until you get the rest of the Rieger kit. painting your lowers will help, but i still don't think it will look to good. just my opinion.

and jibberific, chip your car, then you'll have that extra kick

 

chip is coming.... AWE vent gauge is in the mail and chip is the next mod after that.

still trying to decide between APR and GIAC..... APR is a good value but i might be upgrading my turbo at some point and i hear GIAC has more programs available..

hey tcfrazie, how are you liking that GIAC chip in your new b5? does it idle smooth? good low end? any cel's?

 

^what turbo u wanna upgrade to, you might not want either of the programs depending on the turbo u buy?

 

I'd get ahold of some center caps, and paint the lowers and call it good for a bit. That won't set you back much.

 

Maybe GT28RS, from what i hear Unitronics is a good bet if i'm gonna go that big eventually. I just don't wanna have to do any internals, i'm not that good of a mechanic yet.

but it's more likely that i'll slap on a K04-015 with a good file and decent supporting mods like a FMIC, exhaust, and new injectors.. That way i don't have to start putting stuff on my credit cards or dip into my savings for a stage 3 or 4 clutch, exhaust manifold, and all that other really expensive stuff that a BT is gonna necessitate.

But we'll see where i'm at with the chipped K03.. from what i hear from you guys i'll be itching for more power after that. I just need tuning that will let me get software upgrades as i add supporting mods.

not a fan of red cars but it looks good with the black trim.

 

I like the giac chip a lot. It makes it feel like a whole new car but the most noticeable difference for me was the low-end torque in any gear. I want to get a vent gauge but is that the only way to regulate psi?
