Default Just got an Audi, Already having some problems.

I love my a4 2001. Just got it a week ago however, I’m having some problems with the car. And i have been searching absorbing and using the search function
1. My check engine light went on the code is P0172
2. My oil light is on, i figured the previous owner did not change the oil, got an oil change today and it's still there, also replaced the brittle oil dipstick tube, thinking it might be that, did not help.
3. My coolant light is on along with the oil light in the self diagnose screen. I added more coolant today just to top it off. The problem persists.

Anyone have any solutions for any of these things?

what a helpful post darkprodo. glad to have you around.

P0172 is vag-code 16556 : System Too Rich Bank 1, usualy associated with a bad MAF.

reset all your codes and see which ones come back. i dont know what oil or coolant lights your talking about, but if its the "oh ****" oil light that comes on when you loose oil pressure, its already too late. i hope your not talking about that one. if you have lights on the dashboard, there is a code to tell you why they are on, try getting it scanned again.

I'm assuming he has a service oil light or something and just needs to have it reset which should have been done along with the oil change. If not then... ya its already too late. Coolant light may be a bad sensor or something.

And to Darkprodo if your an Audi tech then help people.... your post was useless and possibly offensive to the OP.

When i first bought mine i had a crap coolant temp sensor (common on these cars), which made the coolant light come on. However, that also throws its own code so that might not be you.

I'm gonna side with the others on this one... have the codes cleared and see which ones come back, some of the codes/lights might be old and irrelevant

the oil and the colant light that im talking about are the self diagnostic module. when you press it and hold it it shows different picktures of things wrong ( brake pads, i know i need new ones, the red coolant light and the oil.

hopefully your oil light doesn't mean you have sludge in your engine. i believe you can get your codes scanned/cleared at autozone
