Just took a test drive

Default Just took a test drive

Okay i just test drove a 2000 a4 1.8t with 150k 5 speed on the body and 5ok on a rebuilt engine the car drove okay wasnt the best condition needs some love but my big concern was when i shifted to 2nd it fent like it wanted to come out of gear so is the transmission going or somthing

was it just hard to put into gear or you put it in the gear and then it wiggles like crazy?

put it in gear and like would try to work it self out if u know what i mean it wasnt smooth

Try some Redline MTL. Jay Leno recommends it for all his cars.

yeah well it deff needed alot of work everything on matience thing that could go wrong with the car was wrong with it so he's gonna haft to make me one hell of a deal

You're not confusing that with the shifter just having a ton of movement (bad mounts of some sort), are you? If not, then the transmission may need a rebuild. Guess it could be the shifter linkage too?

If its trying to work its way out means that syncro is on its way out. Test drive it when its dead cold and see if it grinds into 2nd. Cold oil all ways tells you the truth on how its running.
