keys
I bought my 1996 1.8t (yes, that's right 1.8t in '96) a4 with only one set of keys. I've cut a couple keys from different places but neither of them work in the ignition barrel. The cut keys both work in the doors/glove box though. What's strange is that the cut keys wont even turn in the ignition barrel.
The key I got with the car is an AH key from witte velbert. The only difference in the cut keys is the channel that goes down the middle seems to be a few mm longer than on the original key.
Anyways, i've given up on trying to cut keys locally (unless anyone knows where to go in edmonton, ab, canada...) On VW's theres a code on the mounting nub for the actual lock assembly in the doors that dealers can use to 'code cut' keys. does this code exist on b5 a4's? or can someone link me to an ebay link with the proper blade blank? can I use a mk3 jetta/golf key blank?
