now what is this? granted these require d2s bulbs and everything looks wired in there except for the ballast connection... but what is this 5 prong plug thing?

Thats what the pre-facelift headlight connector looks like...i think you have a pre-facelift so it'l be plug & play.

oh lol ok.... also just testing.. the h7 bulb fits in there... can i use that? or will it not project properly and should i just wait for my d2s bulbs to get here??

I would wait for ds2.. h7 should fit in the high beams though, right? gonna wire up the city lights?

Mine are above the highbeam bulb, but i have the DEPO one piece jobbers.
