Default lighted ring around cigarette lighter adapter - does it turn on ?

Hi guys , this is a minor issue compared to everything else. Today i was sitting in the car and while i was looking at the dash, i noticed the reddish ring of light around the cigarette lighter adapter blinked and turned off. Does is have a switch some where ? or do you think it just went bad when i was looking at it ?

Whatever the case may be, it doesn't turn on anymore. The adapter works fine, it powers up my gps and everything else seems to work.

its prolly a wire/connection problem(as someone had said)i just think its funny he sat and watched it go out.lol

i know in a lot of older cars, especially mid 90s but not necessarily Audis nor a4's, its common for the connection to the lighter to become loose/faulty or disconnected.

I've seen ppl re-solder them or pluck one from a junkyard takes 5mins to fix either way.

lol. i tried again fiddling with it over and over again. And then kinda concluded may be it was not lighting before and i saw it like that just because of something other light reflecting off of it. Now comes the real Question , is there a simple way to get it going again ? i was trying to search and google comes up with weird results.
Can one of you experts please post a part number or something if you know how to search. this might help someone else too . Ironically i can't even find a picture showing that light ring anywhere with the light actually working.

My 2001 A4 B5 AWM Automatic has the cig lighter light lite, when the stalk is in the low beem position,(the mid lights are on),if the lights are off,the cig lighter light will not illuminate.

However, the cig lighter light never turns off, until you turn the low beems off, along with the dash, radio, climate lights.

There is obviously something funky going on with your cig lighter led cirlcle.

I'd say there is a fuse that controls your cig lighter circle led and it blew, try to look at your fuse box inside the car, between the driver side door hinge and the dash board, there is a small cover that you can open, that will reveal fuses,on the inside of the cover, you'll find a legend with what the fuses power, also look in your Audi A4 manual.
