Default A little confused on recode #'s for '98 A4 Tip transmission

I'm confused and need some help. From what I'm reading, Rosstech seems to say that there is a New Strategy and Old strategy for the Tiptronic transmissions. Is the "New" the same as the Sport? According to what I see and understand, given that software codes are 5 digits long:
0000x = Old style
0001x = New Style according to Rosstech but other sites list a "1" in the tens spot as turning DSC/Traction off.
0002x = New Style

When I connected up Vagcom to my car (98 A4 1.8T tip), it said that the software coding was 00000. It's odd b/c I was expecting it to be 00002 to signify the North American Market but it wasn't.

In any case, there seems to be conflicting information and all I want to know is what is the New Strategy for my '98 A4 and if there exists a Sports strategy for '98 cars, what is that code? TIA!

You don't want the new strategy. It makes shifts too soon and you will constantly be wanting to get in tip mode to downshift because you get in too high of a gear too soon. The "new" is used in DBW cars I believe, so you wouldnt have that. The "sports" strategy is non existant. It's soemthing that someone came up with on a VW forum to label a different coding that does nothing. In most cases, even if you recode your tranny it will revert to the original code eventaully. I think they introduced the new strategy to improve mpg. You might as well just use tip mode all the time to pick your shift points. Somtimes automatic downshifts in tip mode can be harsh, especially coming to a stop for the 2-1 shift. I usually drive in tip mode for the upshifts and switch to regular auto for the down shifts. I suggest you do the same and forget about messing with tranny coding.
