Default Looking at a 98 2.8Q, just wanting to bounce it off of you guys.

I've come across a 98 2.8Q for $5500 that started out as a lease, and has had one owner since. Just heard back from the seller, and wanted to bounce it off of you guys since I haven't been in the market for a car for some years.

104k miles, clean carfax, looks to be well maintained... timing belt, transmission and flywheel have been replaced. It'll have to replace the tie rods at some point (no biggie). Some electronic issue that causes the ABS and check engine lights to be on; said deal quoted him at $1600, but it's insignificant as far as it doesn't need to be fixed; it's been that way for 2 years. Clean body, minor crack in windshield.

$5500 seems to be low for that model and milage in this area. Most are going for $8k+.

I'll have it inspected of course.

Thoughts?

I would get the codes read before taking the seller's word that its no big deal. As always, take it to a mech and have them do a pre-purchase inspection.

have the guy fix everything on the car befor you buy it...or deduct from his asking price....

when you say the flywheel has been replaced..I am assuming that the clutch was replaced at the same time...
