I have a 2001 with the extra power and i like it a lot.. 9500 seems a little high, considering that you'll have to pay tax and all that other junk

ask to drive the car when the engine is cold (make sure he doesnt warm it up first) and see if you have any trouble shifting into second (is it a manual).

also check that all the windows roll down and back up.. try them a few times.

two problems on my car that I wish i wouldve known about before i bought it

bump. prospective audi #3...

this one is a 2000 A4 1.8TQM. im not a huge fan of the color, its like a very light gold-ish, but it has some decently dark tint that complements the car nicely. it has 120k miles. service records are okay - all 4 wheel bearings were replaced separately within the last 2-3 years, all new brake pads last year, and new tires as well. he claims the timing belt and water pump were changed last year, but doesnt have the invoice (is trying to get a duplicate from the shop that did it). it also has a custom sub inclosure in the trunk, as well as amps in the glove box for component speakers, and a DVD player in the dash (nothing crazy, one of those small ones that have about a 3" screen). he also claims to have a GIAC chip but told me long after the fact, so im not sure if i believe him (any way to tell without opening up the computer?).

all that, and he only wants $4800!!!! sounds too good to be true but i think im gonna jump on this one...

the only things i visibly saw wrong with the car is there is a small rust spot (maybe 2") on the rear passenger side quarter panel, right above the tire. and theres a tear in the drivers seat (with 120k miles, thats kind of expected), and the display on the gauge cluster is really messed up looking, but readable for the most part. im gonna bring it to an Audi specialized mechanic tomorrow to take a look before i decide what to do. i REALLY hope he can produce the proof of the timing belt and water pump, and GIAC chip.

sorry for the long post im just kinda excited about this one lol

that sounds way cheaper then it should be, i hope its in descent condition. if theres a boost gauge in that gauge cluster then see what the boost goes to, if it boosts to 17-20 psi then it does have GIAC, if not then it should only boost to around 8 psi.

thanks for the reply. i agree its very cheap, but i listed the only things i physically saw wrong with it. i guess we'll have to see what the mechanic finds...

i didnt see a boost gauge, but then again i wasnt really looking for one.

+1 on being cheap, real cheap for a 2000. I would think the timing belt would have gone by 120k though. Personally I wouldnt buy a turbo with that much mileage on it unless it was owned by a serious enthusiast. I absolutely detest the gold color though. Sorry, not trying to **** on the car, I promise. Good luck with it, hopefully the mechanic doesn't find anything wrong.

audi uses galvanized body pannels, and has a 10 year warrenty on rest perforation. if the pannel is rusted thru bring it to the dealer and they can tell you what to do, i think they might even replace it for nothin. though maybe you forget to tell the seller this untill after he hands you the keys. im not sure what they do if its only surface rust but its something to check into.

lol, thanks. i didnt like the idea of the gold at first, but its growing on me, sort of. still not as awesome as black or silver or... well... any other color for that matter lol. but like i said i think it looks pretty nice. with regard to the number of miles, yea it worries me a little too, but im pretty good with cars. most repairs that need to be done i can do myself, so at least i wont have to pay labor on anything that needs replacing... but at this point im not familiar enough with Audi's, which is why i'll take it to the pro for a thorough inspection before buying.
