losing coolant?
hey guys ive had my car for about 1 month now and after the first week my coolant light came on when i went around a turn hard. my buddy knows a bit about VWs and i asked him and he said. "all the coolant went to 1 side of the jug and the light came on its fine, also its a tiny bit low) i put some in and it was all good. today (2-3 weeks later) the jug is about 3/4" below the min fill line. i havnt noticed any leaks, and the light comes on like every time i turn or stop hard. (slosh ik) my oil is still black no creamy color. smoke from exhoust is a little white sometimes but not mucht that ive noticed. any idea where its goin? or am i looking at a head gasket?
A few months ago I noticed the same symptoms you described. Turns out I had a pinhole leak on one of my radiator end tanks. I was able to trace it back because of the white residue that appeared on the side with the leak. I wouldn't rush to think there is a head-gasket leak. At first I did not think I was leaking either, but upon closer inspection, I found the leak.
If you find absolutely no leaks and are really worried, take the car to a garage and have them do a radiator leak down test to verify.

A common leak area is the coolant flange located behind the head. Check there for some whitish/pinkish residue and on top of the tranny. Other possibilities could be that you just need a new reservoir tank cap or there could be a small leak from where the coolant level sensor hooks up under the tank.
not on the coolant flange. I had a leak there awhile ago, and it was a real PITA to get fixed. If it's not torqued down just right, she'll leak...
With the engine not too hot (duh) follow the metal tube that runs over the top of and beside the engine to behind the engine. Where it meets with a plastic piece behind the engine is the flange. Feel under the plastic flange for any kind or moisture. It mounts flush to the head, held by two screws, with an o-ring between. Like I said, real PITA...
Good luck

lol just pulled my motor to do the clutch and timing and ended up wacking that plastic thing real good with the torque wrench on the way back in. Broke those stupid plastic clips holding the plug in. If that's the case, just go buy them immediately. They are literally a dollar.
i checked the metal tube going to the back of the engine and tightened the 2 bolts on the flange there the bottom one seemes fine but the top seemed a little loose, there is a rubber gasket behind it so idk how tight to get it idk if my prob is solved yet, i think im still losing coolant but im not sure yet
