Default Lugnut will not come off (stripped)...need advice

Hey guys,

So my brother was driving the car yesterday, he got a flat and tried to change the tire for the spare. He got all the lugnuts out except for 1. He gave it a good kick and the tool stripped the nut...

I showed up and there is 1 lugnut left but it is completely stripped...

I took a smaller socket and hammered it onto the lugnut, used a breaker bar and tried to get it off but it would not budge. I really forced it and I cracked my socket...never seen that before.

Long story short, stripped lugnut, can't get it off, any ideas?

Thanks

Use a MAPP torch (available at Home Depot/Lowe's/etc.) on the lug bolt to get it hot and then go at it with a smaller socket and pneumatic impact wrench.

Otherwise, use heat and then a smaller socket and breaker bar. Trying kicking downward on the breaker bar to jar the bolt loose.

If you're not getting enough leverage from your breaker bar you can always use a torque multiplier (long pole) on the end of it. T = FxL

Ok so I managed to get this off finally.

I put my spare on now but I only have 4/5 lugnuts on...I will go pick one up at the dealership tomorrow but until then is it safe to drive with 4/5?

You can do it but drive carefully and not a whole lot.
