Default Lurkster turned A4 Owner

Hi. I've been lurking these forums for almost a year now. Well finally yesterday I picked up a 2001 1.8T --

Honestly the car has impressed me performance wise. I was driving it home and just cruising at 60 mph in 5th, I tested how it would pull... the turbo really does work for this car. It got to 85mph pretty quickly and it pulled hard. I'm leaving my 99 maxima 5spd for this. Third gear is really the best gear for 60mph in that car if youre trying to ghost it. A fifth gear pull @ 60mph is slow.

Anyways, the car has 75k on it, and is in nice shape. I might have to get some tires for it which is kind of lame. Can anyone give me any information on this 105k extended "warranty" on the TB? I have the paperwork for it. When I get a chance I will upload a picture of it. It's santorin blue, with white interior.. And how can I tell if its a 2001.5? I am assuming of course by the VIN but what should I look for?

Lastly, the previous owner had ran 89 gasoline in it, which I ran the tank to empty and put 93 in... I don't think there will be any problem since the fuel door says PREMIUM FUEL.

I'm just glad it whips

Cheers

I dunno about the red T, i have a 12v 2.8 lol. But welcome to the forum! To answer some of your questions:

89 octane would be alright, maybe, if you drove it like an old lady. In hopes that you will not, I recommend at least 91, preferrably 93.

I don't know much about the extended warranty you mentioned, but given the miles on the car, I suggest you check the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual. Look to see what maintenance has and has not been done. Timing belt, water pump, etc.

Last, it sounds like a gorgeous car, get some pics up ASAP

get the pic url and put it between [IMG] [/IMG] that. tires are pretty cheap for 16" wheels these days. i suggest getting snow tires and then look for wheels over the winter. unless you're not gonna get wheels. and yes you have the ko3s. you have 170chp instead of the older 150chp 1.8t. every a4 owner say the same thing on the highway. even though the car takes bit of time to get up to speed, it is surprisingly fast on the highway lol. have fun with it and take care of it. i hope you get a good deal on your maxima as 5 speed maximas are rare
