Default MAF replacement and...

Hey guys, been searching around some threads and havnt found an exact answer. I did the MAF test on my audi 01 a4 1.8t and found my MAF was completely gone. i unplugged it and the car ran amazingly better. I bought a new replacement MAF and put it in yesterday and it would idle really bad and i lost a lot of power when i plugged it in.

Do i need to cycle through it for my ecu to adjust back to normal? i havnt cleared the CEL yet with my vag com, also the new maf came with a note saying sometimes the "adaptations" need to be reset and cant be done with an obi II. i have the APR chip, should i call the place and ask?

Thanks!

Assuming you bought an AWM MAF, you need to clear the code for starters. Then I would probably do a throttle body alignment with Vag Com and see how it feels. For the most part, a new MAF should be one of those "plug-and-play" type items...

plugged it back in, cleared the CEL and tried to do the throttle boddy adjustment but i have the cable off ebay not the full ross tech one so i guess i couldnt do it. ill try to hack it tommorrow.

Once i plugged it in, it ran SO bad, idle was crazy, hit the gas and pretty much 40% less power then when its unplugged. tried to do the drive by wire where you turn the ignition on for 3 min, didnt work.

Any suggestions?

Where'd you get the MAF from? It's not often you get a bad part but I've seen it happen.

Default That price

is a little low for a brand new OEM/AudiVW MAF sensor.

absolutely not. You're DBC right? If you used the key on method, the TB is just fine. I would spend that money on a new MAF. Where are you located? I would even let you borrow mine just to rule it out.
