Default Master Cylinder/Booster Problems?? Anyone?

I have a 99 A4, 1.8T FWD.....So, I know about the ABS module problem with these cars. What about the master cylinder/brake booster? Along with the ABS light on my car I now have the red Brake light flashing next to it. Also, my pedal is giving no feel and when I sit at a light, I can push it to the floor. Not really fast, but I can hold my foot on it and it will slowly go to the floor. Also, now on the drive into work this morning, it seems to be getting worse while driving, I feel that a panic stop would almost be impossible. I'm just glad it's a 5 speed and not an automatic.

This is consistent with a bleed down problem. I was just wondering where should I start? Should I get a new master cylinder? Or should I get the booster? Anyone have this problem? Kinda scarey... let me know.

Just to re-itterate... my ABS yellow light is on constantly and now I have the red brake light on, flashing and sometimes I get a beeping sound too...

Thanks

Patrick

if anyone at all is interested...and has this problem ever...

to answer your question fastera4thanurs, the reservoir was empty....so, I pulled the master cylinder off tonite after work. I put it in the vice grips and pumped the piston (LOL! sounds dirty) and brake fluid was leaking past the seal when I had the piston compressed. So... master cylinder is bad. Picked up a new on from a local shop... puttin it on 2morrow. Not a bad price $130 and they had it in stock. Gonna put it on and bleed the sytem tomorrow. I pulled the booster out and there was brake fluid in there...not tons, cause a lot of it went down in that valley/tray kinda thing the Audi's got goin on.

Thanks for all the replies... LOL!
